PLAIN CITY, Ohio – Jonathan Alder Local Schools has announced the hiring of James Raterman as its new District Safety & Security Detail Coordinator. The Board of Education approved Raterman’s hiring at its regular meeting on Monday, August 12, 2024.
“The safety and security of our entire staff and student body is my highest priority,” stated Dr. James Miller, Jonathan Alder School District Superintendent. “Mr. Raterman adds an additional layer to all of our safety measures and protocols, bringing experience and background knowledge as an extension to the district’s administrative team.
Raterman is a highly accomplished professional with more than 30 years of federal, state and corporate law enforcement expertise. He is a retired United States Department of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Special Agent and previously held the positions of Special Agent for the United States Secret
Service (USSS), the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation (BCI) and as the Director of Security for a large corporation.
“I am thrilled to join this school district as the head of security, where my passion for safety and commitment to protecting our students, staff and community will be at the forefront of everything I do,” said Raterman. “Together, we’ll create an environment where everyone can focus on learning and growth, knowing they are safe and secure.”
Raterman is a graduate of The Ohio State University, the Federal Law Enforcement Training Academy, the United States Secret Service, and Homeland Security Investigations academies. He continues to teach, coach and mentor other federal and state law enforcement officers as well as private sector corporations around the United States in advanced areas of interview and interrogation, threat identification, money laundering, rapport building and de-escalation.
