During a special meeting on Tuesday, April 23, the Jonathan Alder Board of Education officially adopted a new literacy curriculum for kindergarten through fourth grade (K-4).

After a comprehensive and in-depth review and pilot process, Amplify Core Knowledge Language Arts was chosen. Amplify CKLA aligns with the Science of Reading and is on Ohio's list of approved core curriculum and instructional materials for English language arts. Amplify CKLA was chosen to support and enhance literacy instruction across all of our elementary grade levels, ensuring that our students receive a well-rounded education that prepares them for success.

We want to express our gratitude to everyone who contributed to the selection process, including our educators, administrators, and students. Their insights and feedback were invaluable in making this decision.

As we prepare to implement the new literacy curriculum, we are committed to providing ongoing support and professional development for our teachers. We are excited about the opportunities that this new curriculum will bring to our classrooms and look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have on student achievement.

The next step in our literacy adoption process will be to present the Board of Education with recommendations for materials for fifth through eighth grade(5-8) at our May 13, regularly scheduled meeting. Thank you for your continued support as we work together to provide the best possible education for our students.
