Jonathan Alder Junior High is proud to celebrate the return of the Power of the Pen program, an exciting and competitive creative writing team coached by 7th grade teacher, Mrs. Amy Huber. After a hiatus, our young writers have made an impressive comeback, showcasing their talent and determination in this prestigious competition.
At the district tournament, held at Gahanna Middle School East, our 7th grade team made history by securing 1st place out of 20 teams—a remarkable achievement in their first season back. Over 70 talented writers competed in each division and several of our individual writers also earned top honors:
5th place: Andra Beatty
8th place: Sebastian McCabe
9th place: Morgan Craney
11th place: Teagan Jorgensen
12th place: Regan Mitchell
Best of Round Award: Landon Garner
Building on this success, the 7th grade team advanced to the regional tournament at Davis Middle School in Dublin, where they continued to impress, earning 2nd place overall against over 28 schools with top competitors from across the area. Individual top honors include:
5th place: Sebastian McCabe
8th place: Landon Garner
Best of Round Award: Sebastian McCabe
In May, three writers will advance to the state-level competition hosted by Ashland University! Best of luck to Sebastian McCabe, Landon Garner, and Cora Julson!
Power of the Pen fosters creativity, critical thinking, and a love for writing, and we are thrilled to see our students excelling in this program. Congratulations to our talented writers and Mrs. Huber for leading this team to such an incredible start! We look forward to seeing what they accomplish next.
