Canaan Middle School students welcomed a zoologist and ecologist with The Ohio State University ties in recent days.

First, 5th grade students had an incredible opportunity to learn from Carson Murphy, a 2017 graduate of Jonathan Alder High School and a proud Buckeye with an Environmental Science degree from The Ohio State University (2021)!

Now working as an ecologist for the State of Indiana, Carson shared her knowledge about protecting ecosystems, managing invasive species, and her efforts to keep natural areas in balance. Students were engaged and inspired as they discovered how they, too, can make a difference for our planet!

Then Ms. Gina, a talented zoologist and entomologist from OSU, and her incredible BugMobile visited CMS. Students were captivated by her "bug box" presentation, where they got up close with fascinating insects like Madagascar hissing cockroaches, spiders, a scorpion, and even a tarantula!

The excitement and inspiration were buzzing as students learned about these amazing creatures.

A huge thank you to both Carson and Ms. Gina for sharing their expertise and passion with CMS students!
