Trenton Park outside of ship

This is an excerpt from the full feature available in the Winter 2024 edition of the Pioneer Pages. The full feature is available here.

From an engineering course at Jonathan Alder High School to the Northern Lights of Alaska, that has been the journey for Pioneer alum Trenton Park.

Park, a 2020 graduate of Jonathan Alder and Tolles Career & Technical Center, is currently working his way through school at the American Maritime Officers’ Simulation, Training, Assessment, & Research (S.T.A.R.) Center. What will this lead to? A license to become an engineer and lead the work for ship engines the length of a bus and three stories high.

Although that may seem as a tough challenge, Park has used his experience at JA to help navigate the waters. His final year of high school, Park was tasked with graduating during the COVID-19 pandemic. Although it provided its fair share of difficulties, and as a full-time Tolles student at the time, he continued to remind himself of the end goal – graduation and receiving his diploma.
