Curriculum
Curriculum at our PK-12 school district is the cornerstone of our educational framework, encompassing the essential knowledge, skills, and experiences that guide student learning. It serves as a comprehensive roadmap, outlining what students will learn at each grade level and how this knowledge builds upon previous years. Our curriculum is thoughtfully designed to be aligned with state standards and educational best practices, ensuring relevance and rigor across all subject areas. It is dynamic and adaptable, reflecting the diverse needs of our student body and evolving educational landscape. Through continuous review and refinement, we uphold our commitment to providing a robust educational foundation that prepares students for academic success and lifelong learning.
Assessment
Assessment plays a crucial role in Jonathan Alder LSD’s commitment to student growth and academic achievement. It encompasses a variety of tools and methods designed to measure student progress, understanding, and proficiency across different subjects and skills. Our approach to assessment goes beyond traditional tests and exams; it includes formative assessments that inform instructional strategies in real-time, as well as summative assessments that evaluate student learning at key milestones. By utilizing a balanced mix of assessments, we ensure a holistic view of each student's strengths and areas for improvement, supporting personalized learning paths. Our goal is not only to measure learning but also to use assessment data to drive instructional decisions, foster student engagement, and ultimately, empower every student to reach their full potential.
Ohio measures the performance of its schools based on how well students are progressing in gaining the knowledge and skills within the learning standards. They do this partly by measuring student performance on annual state tests based on the standards. School districts are required to provide families with access to spring Ohio State Testing results by June 30. Detailed information with how to view these results will be sent out to families each summer.

Multi-Tiered Systems of Support
Multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) form the backbone of our commitment to personalized student success in Jonathan Alder. MTSS is a comprehensive framework that integrates academic, behavioral, and social-emotional supports to meet the diverse needs of all learners. At its core, MTSS is designed to provide early intervention and tailored assistance through a tiered approach. Tier 1 focuses on high-quality core instruction and universal supports that benefit all students. Tier 2 provides targeted interventions for students who may require additional assistance to succeed academically or behaviorally. Tier 3 offers intensive, individualized interventions for students who require more specialized support to overcome significant challenges. By implementing MTSS, we ensure that every student receives the right level of support at the right time, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students can thrive. We continuously monitor progress, adjust interventions as needed, and collaborate closely with educators, families, and community partners to promote student well-being and achievement.
